Test Ride

A test ride helps you to familiarize yourself with how all your gear functions and allows you to test your gear under real life conditions. This way there are no surprises when you begin your actual trip. My test ride involved riding 200 miles each way from Austin, Texas to Port Aransas, Texas. I camped on the beach in Port Aransas where I learned that I didn’t like beach camping. I moved to a protected camping spot in the dunes which eliminated the blowing sand. I tried stealth camping and was happily surprised by how easy it was to find nice camping spots along the entire route. All in all, I learned a great deal from my test ride.
